Chasing Oprah

The Plan

CHASING OPRAH
chasingoprahpic

Well as I said it’s not so much a plan as a work in progress but we have made some……..progress that is. No actual plans just yet.

But here is “The Pitch”:

Ajay Rochester - the host of the Australian Biggest Loser, author of books including The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Losing Weight and Getting Fit and single mom is putting her career on hold to take a road trip from LA to the Mid West. Ajay’s 6 week mission is to become a guest on Oprah Winfrey’s show with a lot of help from regular American people she meets on her road trip from Los Angeles all the way to the hallowed halls of Harpo studios Chicago.

The series overview (if I can manage to get a tv station interested enough to film me otherwise we do it on the cheap and get some film student to do it…never say die!!!!):

Chasing Oprah will be a positive, feel-good observational series following the journey of one woman chasing a dream and asking regular people to join her on her crazy (hey who says I’m craaaazy??) mission. Chasing Oprah will be a celebration of friendship and fun forged on the road with strangers who share her love of Oprah Winfrey (who doesn’t love Oprah? We may well find that out along the way too).

Ajay (that’s me!)would provide the narrative for the series through interview and voice over. Think Borat meets Chevy Chase’s European vacation meets an Aussie in Bollywood meets Little Miss Sunshine meets Supersize Me meets Bowling……..okay well you get the point!

Ajay (me) has set herself a challenge she WILL see through. She has committed 6 weeks to travel from Los Angeles to Chicago with her son, her laptop and a TV crew. Every step will be documented. No stone unturned. No town too small, no city too big.

Every person Ajay meets along the way she will ask them four questions only:
1. Tell me what Oprah Winfrey means to you?
2. What do you think I should do to get on her show by the last day of my trip?
3. Who do you think I should contact next to make my dream happen?
4. Do you want to be there with me at the studio on D-Day – the do or die deadline?

Where these questions take her is anyone’s guess – to local radio stations asking for advice on a talk show, or meeting ex-Oprah guests with tips for what Oprah is looking for or finding Oprah wannabees along the way. Will towns welcome this aussie stranger into their midst or will be there be a resounding chorus of crickets as Ajay puts out the welcome mat of her borrowed Winnebago?

This is a journey of finding and making friends and sharing and trying to understand the world wide phenomenom that is: The Queen of TV - Oprah Winfrey. All in the hope of making Ajay’s life long dream come true.

Will Ajay generate the buzz she needs to make Oprah sit up, listen and invite her onto the show? Or will she have to settle with her 1000 plus strong army of new Oprah fan friends outside the studio on D-Day with security requesting a face to face with Oprah? Will she just throw the book over the fence or will she indeed be granted an audience with “The Queen”?

See that big "O"? That's where we start the long rOad to Oprah.

Week One – From the Big ‘O’ of the Hollywood sign all the way to Vegas baby!

One woman, One child, One camera, One WinnebagO, One mission - One helluva lot of laughs.

Join me on my road trip. If you have any ideas, any towns you think we should stop in on the way, any interesting locals you think we should meet, anything you think we should do…any crazy places or crazy things we should stop and see? Is there a giant O somewhere in the desert waiting for us? Only time (and your ideas) will tell. Hey I’m new around here, I need all the help I can get!

Do u have a WinnebagO you can lend me? Do you want to film it? Would you like to edit it and put it on the net (here at chasingoprah.com dummy)? Do you have friends along the way who can help us? Can you “home” school my child? Do you wanna come with us? Do you wanna help us “plan” it…(hey someone has to do some planning).

Everyone is welcome! Come one, come all, let’s just go have some fun!!!

Watch out Oprah -We are coming to get you!!!!

Date tba. Told you we hadn’t planned anything!!!! Gosh all in good time!!!
